  • My Turbo build Project LZ9 in G6

    Hello everyone,

New to the forum,my name is Mike.I have 2007 Pontiac G6 GT with a LZ9 and the 6 speed F40 trans, Over the next few months I will be buying parts to turbo the G6. I will be will be doing a daily driving application for the car at around 4-6psi, and for drag set up days change it up to 10-12 psi. As for the turbo I am looking at a T04e but I think that it is to small, So i was looking to see what sizes people have used.Other then main turbo components I will be upgrading the throttle body, porting the intake manifold, and gasket matching the intake and exhaust gaskets on the heads, also most likely doing methanol injection. Only thing I have cannot find yet is upgraded injectors the stocks are #28 @ 58psi and have a static flow rate of 27.7lbs/hr. If anyone could help me with sizing for the turbo and help with the injectors that would be awesome. Click image for larger version

Get some 60 lb/hr injectors for gas or larger for ethanol. If you buy injectors that fit an LQ9 or LS2 they should be the right height. 2.7TT Audi injectors also fit.

Mars seems to be having success with a GT4088 on his engine. I'm not sure what he's spooling at though. I like my Borg-Warner s300sx turbo (84-75) but it's probably a tad too small for a 3900. I start boosting at around 2500 and have full boost by 3100 or so.

What are you going to use for engine management? Any plans to upgrade the valvetrain? What's the stock redline at?

HP Tuners make a tuner for the G6 LZ9, and i didn't plan on doing much to valve train i have looked into a few things but not positive on anything yet. And stock redline is 6k but the WAM's tune I have now is set at 6500.

Do you know if the stock cam can make power any higher with better valve springs?

Also, how complete is HP Tuners support? Can it be used to tune a turbo build? Can it support a 2 or 3 BAR map sensor?

As for the cam i dont know, for HP tuners can you define support, the car is going to be tuned by moon performance, and yes i know it can use a 2 bar map sensor not sure about a 3

I have a GT4088 but I think it would be a little large for a manual trans car. I think my car would be just as quick with a 62ish mm unit, and spool harder.

I kind of like what I've been hearing about the Borg Warner turbos. 300SX series around 62mm would do work on that G6.

            Good luck post some pics.

Thanks for the info! I was reading on your forum what do you think about injectors ? I saw you used 60# Mini Siemens injectors do you have a link to those ?

Yeah I had to mod out the lower intake to use them because they were too short, about 1/4" too short if memory serves. I think there is a better alternative out there that go right in no modifications...

Bosch EV14 750cc injectors should work well for you. (48mm o-ring to o-ring). 550s will be too small. They will use the same injector plugs as stock too, as a bonus.

Do I really need that big of a injector isn't the 550 the same size that the LS2 uses ?

My 550s are at 80% duty cycle with 9 psi on my 3500. Usually you don't want to go much higher than 80%. I'd say they would be too small on a 3900.

IIRC LS9s use a Bosch EV14 550cc injector but remember they have 8 injectors not 6. LS9s also use shorter injectors so they won't fit your engine.

Haven't gotten a decent 1/4 mile run. No dyno yet either but possibly in January.

I ran a best of 6.81 in the 1/8 mile. would convert to a mid 10 second 1/4.
