Assuming all I'd need is a egr adapter & 3400 manifolds for this? Becsides gaskets of course. I've got 500 dollars to play with, including gaskets and fluids! Myself doing the work.
interestingly enough, those appear to be 3500 heads in the picture...

Awaiting contact from the seller, glad I posted as I'm 100% new to this motor or Chevys in general. I've just always had straight 6 jeeps. Still have my cherokee with a meaty 4.6l stroker built by myself. They are so extremely simple. This malibu was for the finances daily driver.

3500 heads are better then 3400 heads in stock form, but IIRC, the chambers are too big for the 3100's. the AMC 6 is a tough cookie, dodge did a really dumb thing by doing away with it...

I'll second that. The one time I didn't go through a good lim leak the cam bearings self destructed because of the coolant in the oil.

What's normal COLD compression for these cars? Compression as in on a pressure/compression test?

You can always learn to tune the PCM yourself or get a dyno shop to tune your car. That is ONE way to get more power. Considering how far off your tune is, you could get very little to a whole lot more.

If you have the 4t60e trans, an adjustable vacuum modulator thingy can increase line pressure and net you more grab n go from the trans. If you have the 4t65, you need to change PCM settings to achieve the same result.

Then, if you decide to add some more like a cam or cold air intake, you can tune them in to get the most out of it. But do make sure your sensors, engine, etc is up to standard....no failing sensors while tuning.

These are how the compression test numbers came up...I'm not thinking its blown head gaskets at all?

                1: 172
                2: 160
                3:162
                4: 172
                5: 162

Same here, my only reference is here.

Well I finally started working on it today, for the few hours that I can. I ran a compression test expecting to see whether it ...

Just picked up manifold gaskets and oil and antifreeze & distiller water. Gonna get it together and see what happens. If I end up with another milkshake, then ill put it. Apart and grab head gaskets, clean up these heads slightly, shave em .015 to bump the compression a bit and get it back together.
Main concerns for me are that it runs right and gains a bit of mileage. I know I know, 3400 this & that. NO MONEY for that stuff lol.

Any other advice on finishing this up? I've got the pushrods lengths already.
What color thread locker for the bolts? Anyone have a torque sequence & specs please?

Also broke a little plastic quick disconnect type deal. Connects at the thermostat housing and runs backwards. Was curious I if anyone had a part number for it?

That is the coolant by pass tube. The screw in kind is sold at auto parts stores. As for the push in style I have no idea.
