  • 35/3900 VCT phaser

does anyone have any exploded diagrams available for the Cam phaser on the gen 4 motors? I know that they can change timing up to 40 degrees, but that is the only technical data I have on them.

I read through in a little more detail, and it appears to be of similar design, but I'm still looking for diagrams of the 3900 phaser specifically.

any specific reason? alldata isn't giving me anything useful.

the way it works in the 3500/3900(assuming i'm remembering it correctly), is that when given no signal, the cam is in the fully advanced position, change the duty cycle of the signal to control the amount of retard.

I really need fluid diagrams that show exactly how fluid flows through the actuator. there's a very good possibility that I may build something to make it VVT instead of VCT... !

That does help a little, thanks!

I'm going to try to get a part number and manufacturer info, and see if they will let me in on any of the details, worst case, I'll see if I can get one from someone who is converting to non VVT... you reading this Mars?!

              Ve-tak kicked in yo...

If you want to control the VVT, VCT, whatever you want to call it, look at diyautotune.com. They have a cam position controller that I was looking at when I almost bought a 3900.

I may buy another spare motor in the near future, in which case I'll sell it for cost of shipping. My usual goto auto wrecker has no 3.9's at the moment...

AWESOME! I posted a thread in the mall, I might be interested in more then just the actuator...

                  I'm looking for

                  Phaser
                  Cam gear
                  camshaft(maybe)
                  timing cover (maybe)

I'll be up front and say I don't want to pay much for them because I'm just going to take them apart, so if you're holding onto one thinking it's worth something, I'm not interested ATM...

                  Shipping would be to 32504

                  Thank you-
