power past stock rev limiter?

  • power past stock rev limiter?

    anyone know?

    if i change my shift points is there more power up there past 5500rpm or is it a lost cause?
    please i know someone knows the answer...

    Umm your rev limiter should only be active at a complete stop and will only let you rev to 4000 Rpm.

    If you are going say 30 mph put the car in neutral, and put the pedal to the floor, you will go all the way up to 7000rpm I believe it is.. And if you have it in 1 2 or 3 it will let you go as high as you want until you slide the shifter into the next gear.

    Your car should go over 5500.. But you also didn't give info on what car you have, year, and engine size.

      there's a rev limit regardless of moving/not moving, though it's likely they will be at different thresholds.

      with a stock motor, past 6000 is pretty pointless, you'll be making more noise than power.
      1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

        He ment shift points. There is no extra power past the shift point.
        95 Beretta 3100 with 3400 intakes and TCE TB
        High flow cat and a Magnaflow muffler

          I agree. In my car, I hit somewhere between 5700 and 6200 and the power drops off drastically. I don't know if its valve float or just the stock cam lol.

            with old (factory) springs, probably both.
