WOW! I knew there was a difference but I didn't think that much! That's what I hate about GM service info, they give you just enough specs to fix the damn things but nothing more. Yeah, I had no intention of doing a gen III J-body, I like the 2 way better. It was just an idea I threw out there. With these 3500 swaps, do you program your own chip or does someone make one? My other idea was, if I don't use the LH0 block, getting an LG8 3100 (since it's the identical top end to the 3400), rebuilding with the flat top pistons and using a good cam. Then I realized that even stock, the LG8 would have to gain about 30 horsepower just to match a stock 3500! I just wish the 3400 crank would work in the 3500, that would solve all the crank trigger issues very nicely.

As for the V6 Z24 site, I appreciate any efforts you can make. I posted that because I knew you were on there superdave! Oh well, Gen II Z24 with a nice 3500 swap seems like the most viable option. Now all I have to do is find one that's not beaten to hell! Thanks again!

It does, but the rod journals are a different size and the connecting rods are a different length. According to GM SI, the 2005 3.5 liter rod journal diameter is 2.248" and the rod length is 5.9". The 2005 3400 rod journal diameter is 1.9994" and the rod length is 5.7". The mains are the same diameter and spacing, however with the rod length being that much different, I'm guessing the piston pin is located differently and it too is a different diameter (.9055 for a 3.4 and .9447 for a 3.5). From what I've read, the LX9 3500 crank has identical measurements to the LZ9 3900. Same journal diameters, same rod length. From what I've seen, the LX9 is more closely related to the LZ4 and LZ9 than it is to the L82, LA1 and LG8.
