  • Fiero muffler replacement

What's the best stock location muffler for a Fiero (DD-worthy)? I've been considering ordering a spintech one from west coast fiero.

I've run the stock muffler/tips for a while now and it's starting to sound really bad. Something needs to be done .

Im not sure what the best stock location muffler is, but I will say that I had a crappy experience dealing with WCF and likely will not be dealing with them again.

I'm not sure how you are routing your exhaust, but if its stock routing one idea is putting an oval (if too big then a round) magnaflow single in single out muffler where the cat would be. Then follow the stock rout out and just put a nice Y where it comes out from under rear cradle x-member to exit each side. This would be aggressive sounding but not too loud in my opinion. "Too loud" is subjective however. Personally I like the sound magnaflow gives our engine. More European scream, less grumbly V8ish. Again, subjective.

I have a custom y from 2 LX9 front manifolds to the stock muffler. Looking for something to replace it with without too much work involved.

Well The WCF one would be nice because it would fit well. Their products are adequate (not spectacular) but thier business practices are poor. I would call and order, and ask them explicitly if they have the product in stock on the shelf. If they do, I doubt they would lie about that and you should get ur part. If they say its made to order, I would not order. If you take the gamble, expect to WAIT and be led on about when you will be getting it, and possibly get charged for shipping twice as many many months go by. Also, if you get a hold of them, they come off like you are inconveniencing them and expect overall poor customer service.

+1 on horrible customer service, I called them with questions about one of the kits they had, and they seemed to think I was doing them a dis-service by asking about their parts... I've also heard of/seen pictures of stuff they've made just falling apart (headers). I would get a thrush super turbo and call it a day, but it's single exit, so you may not like that.

            Good to know

Anyone know how 3rd-gen f-body mufflers fit? I probably won't be re-using the dynomax that was on my Firebird.

I've heard that they have to be modded to fit, but I really don't know for sure.

You could also order the muffler directly from spintech.

I thought WCF modified the muffler or something...

I think they modify one of spintech's standard mufflers, but you can order a muffler to your custom specifification from spintech.

I dont know if you checked my thread, but I stuck on a super short glasspack and made a little baffle for it. Works OK. I lost like 9HP with the baffle in though, but it's quiet for the street.

Well... we tried to get my Firebird's old Dynomax muffler to fit, but it was super tight and it was late so we just ended up with this:

Nice and quiet for me but LOUD for everyone else.

Haha yeah. I think I'm just gonna go with a glasspack though.
