Stage 2 seems best if I don't already have a turbo kit fabbed up, but if I plan on getting a turbo anyway, I might as well go Stage 3.

Question is, could I order Stage 2 heads as a starter and then have them re-ported to Stage 3 later? That would be very useful, I could have a high performance NA engine and then upgrade to turbo power when I decide it's not fast enough.

I don't see why not, but I would have to ask Ben on that one.

Yeah, I'll definitely contact him about that.

But this is somewhere in the future where I can afford to plunk down...I don't even know how much to get a 3400 from a Grand Am for an engine swap.

whole 3500's have gotten pretty cheap, and may be an option too, but they take a little more work on the install side.

Given this is a 1995, wouldn't I have to get a more modern ECM too? A newer engine would be OBD-II, and I'm assuming a 1995 car is OBD-I.

1995 is probably obd "1.5" not very tunable, although, some have cracked it. I would switch to a 7730 or go full obd2 either way though.

Going GM to GM shouldn't be too hard...I'm sure there are OBD-1/1.5 to OBD-II conversion kits that allow you to take a OBD-II ECM and related harnesses and wire it up to an older car. I'd hope that a computer swap wouldn't require all new wiring harnesses.

                      kinda,

                      I would just re-pin a harness and get a ECM/PCM from the J/y though...

Cause I can see that becoming a very popular thing to do with 60*'s if it all works out with him.

hopefully, we can go a step further and just use the M90s from the L67s and make the process even cheaper to get into.
Eventually I'll update with all the pros and cons and pitfalls of the MP90, but I can give a rough idea of the minimum cost. The superchargers themselves are basically each a one-off custom spec unit you order from Magnuson Products. Turn around time can be a month or more. Rounded upward, the SC cost was $1900 to the door. My rough castings cost me $260.00 (per set) counting the flange surfacing. Aluminum and steel stock materials, cutting and having the t-stat outlet welded, new belts, 3.25 inch idler pulley, let's say $150.00.
                        68mm TB is $270.00
Now this is still a non-intercooled 12 psi, I would guess roughly equal to 8 psi intercooled turbo. And the weight I estimate 45 pounds with the crude mounts. Having somebody make nice billet mounts is possible, but no doubt would add a couple hundred to the cost.

Once the mount dimensions are finalized, I can post them up. But remember, these are sand castings, not investment types. If you run into a gap or make a mistake when tapping a hole, you have to be able to fill it in and retap.

Being able to use the L67 3800 supercharger would certainly bring the cost way down...

But the decent amount of boost for a low weight increase is quite nice.

The majority of the expense is the custom made MP90, yeah?

So being able to use a L67 M90 would cut at least a few hundred dollars from the package.

you can pick remanufactured 3800 M90s for $300-500.... it cuts out over $1000.

if you want to hit a junkyard, you can usually get them for under $100.
