anyone have any legit info on cryo treating? I'd like to see some real tests that show the differences between cryo and non cryo. I haven't heard anything but hear-say and want a way to toughen up a few components...

hard to argue with those results."I am not what you so glibly call to be a civilized man. I have broken with society for reasons which I alone am able to appreciate. I am therefore not subject to it's stupid laws, and I ask you to never allude to them in my presence again."

Cryo treatment is unique and effective.
In steel, and other metals, there is a grain structure called austenite through out the metal. Austenite is converted into martensite during the deep freeze process. Martensite is far stronger then austenite, which makes the metal more durable and more resistant to wear.
Austenite is like soft clay and Martensite is like a hard rock. When sanding the metal, the austenite is easily pulled out allowing wear. Martensite is harder to pull out and helps the steel retain surface integrity.
Metals that contain large amounts of austenite will benefit the most from cryo treatments.1996 Grand Prix | 3100v6 L82 | T04E-50 Turbo | Getrag 282 w/ EP LSD | SPEC-3 Clutch

Ya but what's the point in building an ls7 Fiero if you're not going to have fun with it?? If you're only going to granny drive it around you would probably have just as much fun with the stock v6...'89 Firebird, 3500 Turbo, T56, 9-bolt/4.11
