you need to rotate that carb 90 degrees, you won't get very good distribution with it like that!

It clears the Disrtib because it basically uses a plentum covering each bank and fed by the center crossover. I wanted to shorten up the effects of the runner length as much as I could for high RPM power. The carb is oriented the way it is to keep it working the way it was designed in a car it was built for. With the cam it has it will not idle worth beans anyway. Larry

I tried using an HEI distributor to see if it would clear the 3500 intake manifold and it wouldn't. The cap and base would interfere with the lower plenum intake runner. I am guessing you are using a different distributor, with a smaller base and distributor cap.

I see what you are saying. I used a Chevy marine v6 distrib extended a little higher to clear the lower intake. I will take a picture from the rear to show it when I get home in about two weeks. Not hard to do. The upper is dead easy to make after you get the lower cleared. Larry

Back in town now, the intake is back from the welder, haven't cleaned it up yet, but here is the promised view of the Dist. from the rear. It is a very easy job to extend it up, in this case I used a mechanical advance only from a Marine V6 grafted to the bottom end of a 3.1. LarryClick image for larger version

No, I turned the outside to match the ID of some aluminum tubing and then pressed them in with a little JB weld coating them. I then made a longer shaft with drill rod and it worked out fine. Larry

Took a break from working on the car. Got some better tools, got a better shop, got a better job... Its time to burn metal!
