I agree about the harmonic balancer. I wonder if a failing harmonic balancer could encourage clutch/flywheel failures. As they absorb harmful frequencies, maybe a bad balancer could drive frequencies into the flywheel?

I too want to put up a shield along the firewall. There are products to turn glass windows into bullet proof windows, I wonder if something like that would work and be light weight. Or maybe line the inside of the bell housing.

I was just going to weld up a steel shield and bolt it to the tranny.

yeah, the thought of a flywheel blowign is really starting to get under my skin more and more too, esp considering my flywheel is just about inline with my right shoulder...

It's no joke to have one blow. It's also a small piece of insurance to have some steel to catch it and possibly save your life if it does go.

Dunno, but the rules say that this rule was created because of supercharged cars. And it makes sense for a supercharged car, but they require it for all cars running 10s.

Lakewood got back to me about a custom bellhousing. Almost double the cost of a regular one at $1000. I've started looking for a used SFI bellhousing for now but I asked if the price would go down with a group buy.

Not that there would be any interest in a group buy anyway... Some 3800 guys might be interested.

Why not just gt a blanket instead of a custom bellhousing? MUCH MUCH cheaper.

Right now I'm just looking for an SFI T56 bellhousing from Mcleod or Lakewood and ill modify it as needed. They pop up used once in a while.

Be careful with mods, sometimes once a certified product is modified, it sometimes looses it's certifications...

I've read about several ls1 guys having to clearance their SFI bellhousings so I'm not too worried. Most of the mods I need will probably be to the backing plate that's installed behind the flywheel (may try drilling the V6 bolt pattern into it)

10-4, just thought I would throw it out there for you, I'd hate to see you spend the coin and then not be able to use it.

Well I found a used bellhousing for $420 shipped so I'm happy with that. Also scored a set of rear QA1 coilovers for $370 shipped. I'm interested to find out how they perform; I like the front coilover setup I have now.

Mounted the ICM/coils by drilling/tapping 6 M5 holes in the stock 3500 bracket, then trimmed the excess metal on the bracket.
Also made mounting bracket for the AFPR. For the fuel return, I'm either gonna tee off the feed line to the FPR or run a line from the rail's schrader valve to the FPR. Not sure which is best for optimal fuel distribution. For the nitrous setup on my Fiero I ran the fuel line from the schrader valve and it worked well. Gonna work on the car a bit tomorrow, maybe I'll finally get around to cleaning up the engine bay. It's time I started working on the wiring again as well.

saw balancers were mentioned, this is the one i almost bought for mine... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/at...make/chevrolet

If i ever convert to an internal 7x trigger i'll probably get one, right now my trigger wheel is bolted to the stock balancer.
