fed. vs calif emiss. which is best?

I have a choice of going with a Federal or a Calif emissions pkg on an '84 carb'd 2.8. Is the computer and sensors worth the trouble when I can go with a Federal pkg that was not computer controlled?

Where do you live? If you live in Cali, you might not have a choice. Same in a few other states where you have to keep the emissions the way they came from the factory. If you do have a choice, I'd go with the Fed set-up. Those computer controled carbs worked like crap, and you won't have any sensors to go south on you.

I live in Socal. The emissions place I checked says they go by the decals in the engine compartment (on the swappable fan shroud). The blazer was parked in 1989 and sat since then.

My Lumina Euro has Canada Emissions, but they look similar to Fed.
