Just wanting to get an idea of several senerios. How hp/tq could you get with a stock 3500 non vvt and a single cam change? Or cam change and bigger TB, headers? And lastly Head work, street/strip mild porting bigger springs streetable big cam bigger TB headers port matching ?
    Thanks Rick

It is pretty well documented that a stock 3500 with a big cam mild porting and headers can make solid 300 hp (see Superdave's old 3500 Cavy). But you need to remember that the potential power from a cam change can be heavily dependent on supporting mods; just throwing a large cam in an otherwise stock engine can actually reduce power.

I forgot to add that proper tuning is just as if not more important than the hard parts you throw at a motor.

Considering what i've gotten out of stock 3500's on the dyno, Ben is about right. Supporting mods will play a huge role though.

my 5 speed Cavalier put down 275 to the wheels with a ported top end, custom ground cam and longtubes. That's a little over 300 @ the crank. Same engine with a little more work and ITB's put down 263 WHP with an auto trans, that's roughly 330 HP on a rough tune.

I think I can get to 8K without losing a rod.
