Which would you do? 8mm rockers or 10mm

    If you can pick up 10mm rockers from a wrecker, it's cheaper to do that than heli coils. Most kits only come with 10 serts, so figure 140$ for a kit. Or 10$ of rockers at wrecker, and you probably already own the tap and drill bit.

      Considering what I have invested in my 3500 heads I will probably just have a machine shop install Time-Serts and use 8mm rocker arms. The closed seat pressure on my valve springs is about 142.5#, with open seat pressure at max valve lift approaching 300#.

        You still end up with aluminum threads that are getting worked every time you go on and off with a rocker. I prefer to have the threads that get the abuse to be steel of sorts. I will be doing Time-Serts when I start this set of heads and probably keep the 8mm rockers.
