Everyone that I've read that have done them, its been an 8hr job. But that was the direct bolt in. Add probably another 8hr to that for the modification to fit your engine bay.

Probably less than a custom set, and that is your other choice. Colin made himself a set and they look really good though. You could always think about doing that......

I ain't skilled like that. lol. so what if i install the front part of the headers myself to save money. and then have someone else install the back set and modify it. is that possible. can my car run around fine with the front part installed and the back part not?

another question, doesn't the grand prix have a larger engine bay than the 99+ grand ams, why wouldn't the headers fit with ease in my engine bay? who has actually tried and suceeded to install 99+ headers on a grand prix 94-96??

Your GP is a W-body. The GA's are N-bodies. 2 totally different classes.

ok so can you explain to me if you don't mind, when i said, "why can't the grand am 3400's headers fit on my 95 grand prix 3100?" because i was told that there wasn't enough firewall clearance. but i thought there was more room between my engine and the firewall than the grand ams..

bszopi said,"Add probably another 8hr to that for the modification to fit your engine bay."

so do grand ams have more clearance back there?

its the way the firewall is setup.

the exhaust on an older Wbody goes all the way straight down and then out through the exhaust tunnel.

where as the Nbody goes out on an angle down and then out past the firewall, it is a completely different setup.

brad had a good pic of the diffference of an older L body (same as a Jbody) comparing the NEW (99+) Nbodies.

i have it on my webspace:

Colin said it best. I was going to post the same picture if I could find it (then again, I didn't look).

so teh pipe going down needs to be modified? so it really wouldn't be that hard for a place to modify it then right? who has done it?

Not really. The rear header will have to be modified. From the looks of it, all three pipes will need to be cut and bent to clear. An exhuast shop (not a chain store mind you) should be able to do this for you. Just don't let them pressure bend the pipes!
