valve cover gaskets

Can you reuse our OEM valve cover gaskets if they're not leaking? I need to pull both of mine to have a look at the valvetrain but don't want gaskets falling apart on me when I have none on hand to replace 'em with.


they're rubber, aren't they? haven't had a 3.1 open before myself

fuel/oil resistant rubber, silicone, something along those lines.

i picked up a pair of fel-pro VC gaskets(blue, silicone) from the local autozone back in ~may 2008. pretty cheap IIRC, might as well replace them. not sure if it's 100% necessary, but i also replicated the dab of RTV that was on the factory gasket.
