i was thinking last night how cool it would be for the next time i rebuild my motor to use a 3500 block
but wasnt sure how that would work with my 2000+ 3100 manifolds and heads
are they the same cept fot the uppper intake manifold?
of coarse i would need bigger pistons but are the rest of the internals the same?
is the block a gen 3 block with just a bigger bore?
i just though it would be cool to have what looks like a 3100 with a block bored to 3.6 liters
    ha ha ha

The block changed but the head bolt pattern appears to be the same. Its a different crank, pistons, rods. Not sure on the crank position sensor or the cam position sensor but im pretty sure the crank sensor changed.

True, the crank sensor changed, but the wheel on the crank is pressed on.
The first person to design a new reultor wheel to convert the new 3500 to an old style crank sensor, will have a booming business.

My brother has a 3500 2004 malibu, but there is no way he will let me touch that thing. If you can talk him into it is all yours. lol I don't see that happening by the way. He hasn't even opened the hood to let me see it.
