  • lx5 65 mm throttle body

can someone tell me if there is an advantage to using the 65 mm throttle body on my blown 02 3100 malibu pumping 7 lbs. seeing as i'm forcing air into my stock throttle body now. thanks

there would be a little better throttle response possibly. I'd say go for it!

I'm not boosted but I put an lx5 throttle on my 3400 and noticed a pretty good improvement.

Yes, go ahead and do it.

While we're at it, can anyone tell me if the LX5 mounting bolt pattern is the same as this one? This is what I use now, but I would like to try the 65 mm.

I need to make a mounting flange, and was hoping one flange could accept both. If not, a pattern of the LX5 65 mm's outlet side would be helpful.

From a 4.3 Chevy 6 Cyl. The trouble is, it has to be modified to work. I had to use a different model's shaft with cable crank lever and plate, and had to rotate the TPS. I'd just as soon use the LX5 if I'm going to start from scratch, I assume that it needs no mods, except the cable bracket. And hopefully, it is readily available

edit: the one in the pic is a spare I just picked up on Ebay, not the one I was actually using.

There is no off the shelf bracket I'm aware of other than the stock lx5 bracket which likely not work without modding and still may not work. That bracket is also thick as hell and big. I just put one on my 3400 and had to pick up an adapter from Ben and I had to modify my stock 3400 bracket which was a pain.

That's not a problem, I already got a "universal " modded stock bracket Click image for larger version

Well then you maybe fine depending if the throttle body will match up. It's a 3 bolt pattern but I'm not sure if the holes are in the same place. One off center top and 2 bottom.

                    4300 / 4800 / 5300 / LSX TB's are all the same. 75mm, but the smaller engine TB's have a half-moon restrictor plate in them..

Haha, when I bought my 4.3 TB I cam up with a little saying :

                    LS1 TB : 120$
                    4300 TB : 24$ shipped (ebay)
Knowing that they are the same part : Priceless.

                    haha.
