PaceSetter Headers on a Monte Carlo

Hey guys, I know this topic has been brought up over and over again but I'm looking to put headers on my Monte, I have come across these that claim to fit the 3400 Monte Carlo.

Has anyone used these? I found this thread:

They claim to fit and are a decent price, I'm just wondering if anyone has actually used them on a Monte Carlo yet.

pacesetters are the best bang for the buck ls1 4th gen f-body headers. but with that, comes shitty coating. they do rust out at the collectors pretty fast. but for 400 bucks, you get what you pay for.

have you personally seen them on any or seen that they don't need to be modded to fit? I'm looking to probably get them coated locally to take care of some of the rusting issues

If* you buy them throught SummitRacing, and they dont fit, for what ever reason that they should not (which is they didnt, you could sue the company for faulse advertisment or some other crap) fit, you should be able to return them for a refund.

there is 2 likes on bookface, look into those and see what those people thought of them, it appears all you have to modify (or do aside bolting them in) is cut out your old cat, or get a new one, and have it welded onto the down pipe. this isnt that hard to do.

I'm starting to hear that just dealing with pacesetters in general sucks lol, I'm thinking I may just do the 'shorty headers' using the 3500 manifolds, I can't seem to find that thread anymore tho

Try the OBX ones... I don't know how good the fitment is. It's an S&S Copy.

I have those on my Malibu..
They fit with a minor exception, the primary from #2 rubs the head on the corner.

You need to ding it with a hammer or bend it to avoid this.

Otherwise they're great bang for the buck.

The CAT isn't a CAT by the way.

Typical OBX though, they overlook something stupid like that. You can see they rotated the front collector from what S&S had... I bet thats the reason why #2 is closer.

Yeah it seems just like a resonator..

I also still seem to be leaking somewhere up front, but I think that was the install and not the headers.
The difference (and why the S&S don't touch) is because the flandges on the S&S have slotted bolt holes, so there is room for some adjustment.

The OBX don't have such adjustability.

Amusingly, my CEL has not illuminated due to the cat, I haven't got a clue how as my car is trinking up a freaking storm!

So the OBX version would be better then the Pacesetter version, because it is stainless steal. Is that what I am getting? The only downside, is that it requires a slight modification due to rubbing.
How would these hold up in a wintery climate with the salt and dirt and whatever else the dump on the road to melt the ice and snow?

Yeah, I wonder how mine are looking....
What about just grabbing some ported exhaust manifolds? Would that help at all, as sort of a "substitute" of the headers?

things last as how you treat them, some things will never last long if there driven in the winter, especially ontario as they use alot of salt. i cant speak for other areas...
Simply put, you gotta pay to play.stainless will last longer if its a higher grade, but eventually will start to rust, it also depends on how thick they are, if there atleast 16 gauge then go for it, alot of headers are getting built out of 18 gauge material, and i wouldnt waste my time with them.

I guess that statement is fair enough, although...my area would be just like Ontario as they salt like blocks of ice cover the roads.
Headers are something I thought about, but never got into because of the cost.
