Have him come to the meet, ill make him talk

Me: So, what can you tell me about the 3900 3 valve heads?
    GM guy: Nothing
:: Gives GM guy a couple shots of tequila ::
Me: I hear that 3 valve head is gonna be sweet
    GM guy: Perhaps....
:: Gives GM guy a couple beers, a few more shots, and a hooker ::
Me: I bet ford would tell me about the 3 valve heads!
GM Guy: :: pukes on hooker and passes out ::

Damn, even my imaginary interrogation goes wrong!

Multi-valve heads and pushrods arn't all that new. Dominion makes 4 valve/cylinder pushrod heads for regular SBC AND BBC's. I've seen them before and just like GM's, they look a little odd, but the SBC I saw them on was supercharged too and it made 1250 something HP.

I dont care how bad or wacky they look, as long as they get the job done.

That design was tested on GM big block heads quite a while back.

            LOL, Sappy!
Honda's VTEC SOHC engine cam would probably be close to what they would consider for the valvetrain. But wouldn't putting the new heads on an older 60 degree require alot more then just the new heads? Wouldn't you need lifter bores for all those new intake lobes and wouldn't the cam be longer in overall design? Just some questions to throw out there.

You can run 2 valves off 1 lifter/cam lobe.

Yup. All you have to do is make a rocker arm that will push both valves open. Its not all that difficult. I saw a BBC head with 4 valves per cylinder and it was really odd, but it only had 2 pushrods per cylinder and two rocker arms...the rockers just each opened two valves. Weird yet creative setup that should function very well.

The 3 valve head design should really help if we are able to use it. That would be really awesome on a turbo engine if there was two exhaust valves. The VW/Audi 1.8T engine is a 20V 4 cylinder....it has 5 valves per cylinder, and IIRC there are 2 intakes and 3 exhaust because it is set up for the turbocharger. That setup has the capability of making a LOT of power.

Other way around. It's three intake and two exhaust. Same for everybody else's three valve heads. Two intake, one exhaust.

Any new news on this yet??

I am anxious to see if we are going to get a viable performance head option for our engines.
