  • More hp on 3.4 sfi. how to make M own SFI?

    Hi! I'm new on this forum and sorry about my english it's not my first language.

    I just bought a Chevy cavalier 99 with swap 3.4 SFI
    I want to get a little bit more HP. but i dont want to put 1000$ on it this summer ( maybe later!)

    SO a think that i can make my own Cold air intake. but. How I can do it? This need to be A1 'cause i want to make some expsition. so this need to be.. CLEAN!


    Do you haver other idea to get my 3.4 a litle bit mor powerfull? Under the car I have a custom exoust 2.5po.

    Maybe a biger throtle body? but i want a bolt-on is possible.

    A larger Throttle body is a great start, that, a CAI and a tune will net you well. When i get to building my own CAI on the cheap i'll do a write up and post it up, so far i'm into it for less than 90% and dont expect to pay more. how ever i have full access to a mig welder and tig welder.

      Wich thotle body fit? and how we change it? its bolt-on? do we have a how-to somewere?

        all your performance needs:

        you may want to look into getting a ported upper intake aswell to match up to the larger throttle body

          I built my own cai. Mine is right under my front plate.Right out in the open to get cold air
          One long straight pipe and 2 45's bent pipes cost was maybe 60.all mendel bent pipe

              it will make the difference if you are doing a larger throttle body, put up a pic of the engine bay so we can see how/whats been done

                  How mouch Hp i gain with bigger TB and cold air? and le new trottle body its as trottle from an other motor or a new pieces?

                    Tu peux acheter un throttle body TCE 65mm (comme bob442 a dit, regarde WOT-TECH). Sinon tu peux trouver un throttle body de LX5 (oldsmobile aurora si je me souviens bien) qui est aussi 65mm, mais il te faut un adapteur.

                        Le moins cher celui de LX5, le moins de trouble c'est le TCE et aussi le plus beau look.

                          ca peut donner combien de hp de plus avec un TB de 65mm et un CAI si jai une bonne tune ensuite ( la tune doit servire a le faire virer plus riche vue qu'il a un suplus d'air?)

                            TB/CAI/Tune combien de HP ca peut donner, ca varit tjrs avec la tune. En général je dirais une quinzaine de HP environ...

                            Si tu le fais rouler plus riche qu'avant, tu va perdre le gain donné par le TB et CAI, donc tu veux juste garder le même AFR après les modifs

                              ouais mias si je change le TB et met un CAI j'ai plus d'air qui entre dans le moteur. donc techniquement jdois lui faire entrer plus de gaz aussi? ou pas besoin?
