  • Exhaust flange

Has anyone made a Downpipe coming from stock 3400 Manifolds? If so - what flange did you use to mate with the manifold?

  • #2
I had this cut by a friend and it used the stock 3400 gasket, or a simple 2.5 flange gasket slightly modified to fit the bolt width.

    I made this with it.

Used only one bend for my application and it came out perfect.

That looks good. I am actually in need of someone to weld it up as well. This will actually be going into an Impala (W-Body) and I know the angles are much different than the N-Body. I will post up some pics of my Manifold and see what your opinion is.

When I made my downpipe for my car, I just used the stock flange that was on the stock downpipe, and welded 2.5" pipeto that flange. Works perfect.

Slightly separate topic - does anyone know if the 3900 Exhaust manifold will bolt up to a 3400 head? Based on the Part number searches, the 3500 and 3900 Exhaust manifolds are the same, at least for the 06+ Impala. If I remember correctly, the 3500's will bolt up, so this would suggest the 3900's would.

Two completely different 3500s. The ones in the 06+ Impala is the 3500VVT, which is just a smaller 3900. The 3500 manifolds that work on the 3400 is just a larger version of the 3400. So to answer your question, no, they won't work.

Damn... I'll stick with the ported 3400's then. TY for the info.

Anyone know a part number for the Exhaust Manifold Studs? I seem to be having difficulty find reliable information... couldn't think of a more reliable location than here.
