that is close to the set up 14seconddreams has in his car. the cam should be fine, I beleave thats the cam v6 h.o. is running right now. just make sure the clearances are not too much between the pistons and the bore. if the pistons are used and block has high milage you might have some problems.1999 Olds Alero 2.4 to 3500 swap (running). totaled by a honda

I think I would also go with some oversized pistons and bore the block out a little. It is going to be more work and cost more money, but its the only right way to do it. Otherwise you are putting pistons in a cylinder that you don't know is even straight/smooth. You might put the new (used) pistons in there and find that the rings aren't sealing well because the cylinder is in bad shape. If you bore it out a little, you know that it is smooth and that it is the right size.

For the cost, I'd also get a set of 0 blow by rings, for the money it's not much more then a factory set. just a thought2002 Pontiac GrandAm GT1

well i already have the block at the machine shop it was dipped.. the crank checked out no wear at all and being polished. the block was re honed, but not bored..& on a budget at the time. and the bores r good so i didn;t see a reason to bore it out b/c i was originaly gonna put the old pistons back with new rings b/c they were in great shape.. so cant i get a set of 3100 pistons and put new rings and put them in for better compression?

Hmm...this is interesting guys. I just picked up a '94 Lumina 3.1, and while I need it for reliable transportation for now, as the CS is getting ready to undergo the knife, I'd thought about a cam and higher compression pistons for the tired 3.1 in the Lumina...it's got 185,000 miles on it now.\"NASCAR is an integral part of my life.
