Did you make sure the coolant passage at the back of the timing cover outlet didn't have an extra hole? Some of the FWD to RWD conversions using the RWD timing cover have this problem.
Build looks awesome so far. This is similar to what Midget race cars are doing here in the States.

Lifting engine and gearbox to the car.
New engine mounts have to be made.
Left room in the drivers side to dry sump oil pump.
Not enough room for the head in drivers side.
Can not make headers decently.
Have to modify firewall , it has allready been moved 20 cm backwards (race regulation allow that,
and everybody does that because of weight distribution).

Still waiting roller lifters and roller rocker arms.
In the meantime been busy with transmission.
Chevy S-10 bellhousing came at last.
I made an adapter to centralize bellhousing to transmission.
New bolt holes have to be made.
I have a lathe of my own, old but working well.

A bell housing for a 2.2, 3.1-3400, and any 3800 bell housing is the same for a 4l60 or 4l65e or 5spd from a s10 or trans am/camaro, transilla might have something to bolt upto a t56

I would return them or try to sell them here or on ebay or something, they probably aren't compatible with a 3x00 block, though I may be wrong. Even if they are though, why spend $500 on lifters when you could spend much less.

Nope, 3100/3400 heads are fine on not only the 3.1s, but the 2.8s as well.
However, that being said, only a 3.4 or 3400 can take 3500 heads.

What would worry me more would be the combustion chamber being bigger than the cylinder due to the 3400's larger bore.

Building the engine goes on.
Block is from -95 Chevrolet Lumina 3100 and heads are from -98 3400.
Crankshaft is a brand new 2.8 Eagle shaft.
Allready purchased RWD timing cover.
So far the most difficult item will be camshaft.
I was thinking that there should be plenty of race roller camshafts from
which to choose.
No, there are not any.
But with the help of WOT-TECH thinks should be OK now.
And the second difficult part is RWD bellhousing.
I have seen in Ebay 2 RWD 2.8 bellhousings for sale so far.
I have bought the other (has been on trip to Finland for a month),
other seller is not sending to Finland).
And why I wrote this was that Crower mechanical roller lifters are coming
here next week.
Bought them .
And we will see are they "drop in" lifters or what.

but if he's going to put carbs on it then that won't matter, it will need a custom lower intake which isn't that hard to build if you have access to a good shop.
veekuusi, the gen 3 engines have an improved oiling system that will help you out for sure in your application. The priority main feed system is great for high RPM use. They are also stronger blocks, have cross-bolted main caps and are set up for a roller cam from the factory.
