Yesterday was significant day so to say, because 2 race Ford Capri`s were dynoed
the same day. They are the only race Capris here in Finland.
Morning begun in the dyno place with my friends Capri which has a 2900 cc Ford Cosworth 24v V6 engine.
But soon a big bang could be heard , and thats it.
Oil and water was coming out of the oil pan.
Total loss with the engine.
We do not know yet what happened.
It broke a valve or connecting rod or something.

My friend has done a video from the dyno.
Listen carefully when it comes to 3 min time.
You can hear damage inside the engine, knocking.
My friends Capri out of the dyno place and mine in.
I had better luck than my buddy.
With the new bigger plenum , I could gain some hp.
186.6 kw = 253.7 hp 7810 rpm
261.6 Nm (193 lb-ft) 5850 rpm
The numbers are WHP, the dyno can not calculate the crank hp.
But if we say the driveline loss is 15 % with RWD , then the crank hp is 292 hp.
Not bad with a single carb.
Mr Ericjon 262 is right with theory of the bigger plenum.
The bigger the plenum, the more hp.
Maybe I run the engine this season with this intake,
but it is sure, I manifacture a new intake for next race season.
We also managed to get some exhaust temperatures.
They were as follows
4000 rpm 600 celcius (1112 F)
5000 rpm 650 (1202 F)
6000 rpm 700 (1292 F)
7000 rpm 750 (1382 F)
8000 rpm 800 (1472 F)
The difference between the left and right bank was something
like 50-70 celcius (122 F - 158 F).
The right bank was the hotter in every case.
