  • MUCH better.

Even though the runners are different lengths i think you'll be ok. Guys that run ITB's have been known to alternate the height of velocity stacks to change the power band of the engine. From what i hear it works pretty well.

      • Cool build! if you could figure out some way to seal every thing up and leave it open under the plenum you would have a v6 "air gap"!

Funny, I have a squirrel family in my garage rafters. They found a nice entrance on the roof from the trees. I leave them a pile of food when they seek the lands for acorns, etc. They sure do appreciate my presence as I turn on the heat....lol.

One of the babies (eyes still closed) fell onto my work bench, alive. With out touching it, I scooped it up and placed it outside where the momma often runs around. An hour plus some she found it and scooped it up. I was surprised, I thought the baby was as good as dead soon.

          Wife loves that story.

            • 2 years ago we had a one eye squirrel in our yard.
I saw it for some 1.5 years, it visited our yard allmost every day.
Some kind of accidents had happened.
But one day it did not come anymore.

              • That is about how long our squirrels seem to last. I don't know if they move on or get killed. They seem to like to dig around(work) on cars. I always see them under the cars pawing around for close to five minutes.
Your squirrels have some nice colors!
We even have flying squirls here.

They are in the rafters over the dead side of the garage. They leave me and my stuff alone (except for dropping infant squirrels lol), so I leave them alone.

The moment they mess with my stuff, they are target practice.....and I think they know it.

                  • "Third time tells the truth".
We have here a saying like that , lets see if it is true or not.
21 of february is the third dyno day , so in a 2 weeks time.
But I have to make a disappointment to some of you.
It is with the PMO carb not with the Holley.
The Holley intake has not seen any progress, it is all of motivation.
First I want to see this final change to the 3 barrel carb intake.
With the bigger and lower plenum tubes.

When I welded it , it changed its shape a lot.
It did not match at all the heads any more..
I had to fill the runners and take it to the shop to have it milled.
                    But now it is okay.

                    • here's the intake I think you should build!

Please excuse the quick and dirty sketchup screenshot... I bet that would work really well with the 3 bbl and a largish open plenum!

                      • On that eagle crank were you able to internally balance it or did the shop had to externally balance it with the flywheel?

Free Shipping - Eagle Cast Steel Crankshafts with qualifying orders of $109. Shop Crankshafts at Summit Racing.

The shop managed to balance it internally, although this crank is ment to
                          balance externally (with a flywheel).
As I said earlier, "the second most difficult balance ever", they said in the shop.
It did not come cheap, $ 800 (read: 800 bucks!).

They say, this crank can take 300 hp, I am coming closer to that limit.

                            I totally agree with you.
But in reality the intake runners are not going to be as long as
they are in your drawing. It is the 60 degree that makes it difficult.
Cylinder heads are in our case much closer together than in a V8 engine (90 degree).
But lets wait a 2 weeks time, we are much wiser then after the third dyno day.

And here is some really hot pictures of V8 intakes.
It is easier for the V8 guys, there can be a flange towards the heads,
and the push rods do not came in the way of the runners.

And I have an issue with the hood.
I had to shorten the air horns above the carb.
If it would be possible to make a scoop to the hood, no problem at all.

                            • Yes I did see that they had a hard time. But didn't know if it was balance externally. Wow 800. If I can't get a factory forged when I buy a 3.5l lx4 or a 3.9l lx9 I am thinking about that eagle crank. Guess I better send a flex plate with it to keep cost down.
                              Thanks

but nah, I get it on the runners, and the drawing I posted was by no means to scale, the runners aren't even offset! but a large-ish open plenum under your 3BBL would be ideal in my eyes.
