Did you make sure the coolant passage at the back of the timing cover outlet didn't have an extra hole? Some of the FWD to RWD conversions using the RWD timing cover have this problem.

Build looks awesome so far. This is similar to what Midget race cars are doing here in the States.

I had the hole in the cover that did not line up with anything on my block and had to weld it shut. Better to catch it now then later!

Yes, there is an extra hole.
        I tig welded it.

Other issue was that one bolt to block was 12 mm and the hole in
        timing cover was 8 mm.
I made a stud with 12 mm thread in one end and 8 mm thread in other.

I am going to use electric water pump.
Need to do a cover to the timing cover.
        Like this :

        A box full of pipes.
        For exhaust headers.

Also got one pair of 3100 heads for free.
        A little bit of damage.
Inlet valve seat insert has gone loose.
And gone to the other cylinders too, thru the inlet manifold.
Do not know if that is a common failure with these V6 engines.

Solid roller lifters and roller rocker arms.

Perhaps the most difficult job is to do stud girdles.
Our local speed shop lend me some SBC stud girdle parts.
Of course they do not fit straight , but you get the idea.
Have to make a custom stud girdle of my own.

those heads are eff'd. I think someone had made rocker girdles, might have been cnc guy, you will have to make valve covers to fit those

              Yes, you are right.
There is going to be an issue with valve covers and intake manifold.
              But that`s no big news.
And custom lenght push rods also have to be made.

i like this build. mainly becuase of the displacement limitation you have to work with and a lot of this can work with the larger engines

what engine are the lifters for?

I ordered a month ago from our local speed shop Crower solid roller lifters.
A guy in the shop said it takes one week or so.
It was to be discovered that there are no lifters ready for this V6 engine.
Not in Summit or other speed shops.
"Factory order", can take a year or so, no body knows.
                  Maybe they come some day.

I bought these from buy/sell section , this very forum you are reading.

those lifters look like they will work... do you think gurdles are nessisary? and you wouldnt just want to put in a really stiff spring in the stock lifters?

the mech rollers are way lighter.

The valve spring pressures and valve lifts are going to be something else
than stock. Original hydraulic lifters will not work .
I will tell you more about the spring pressures and camshaft , when it is ready
and shipped here in my garage. The camshaft is made in USA, and I hope to get
                        it soon.

The most important thing with this engine, driving it 8000 rpm allmost all the time
                        is valve geometry.
That the rockers are doing their job well.
3/8 rocker studs are not very strong. They will break up if they move too much.
Valve stud girdle is going to hold them in order.

And some pictures , manufacturing exhaust headers.

While waiting for engine parts (camshaft, pistons and rods) , been working with
                          bellhousing.
Made a place for starter to the drivers side.

                          And washed the block.
Took away all the oil gallery plugs.
One gallery was plugged with a core plug (freeze plug).
Threaded the hole and it will be plugged with screw plug.
Also the camshaft bearings will be replaced.

You can use SBC v8 cam bearings in these blocks as an upgrade for width so more load is spread out on the bearing surface from the cam journal.

With the plans to run this motor to 8000 RPM it should be interesting to see a dyno graph.

                              Some updates to this story.
                              Did tig-welding to oil pan.
To get to the dry sump oil pump more oil, not so much air.
It was a bit difficult, my tig machine is not too powerful.

                              New timing chain.

                              ARP head stud set.
In the picture is one piston. It is from 3.1 engine, it is 4 mm short with 2.8 crank.
New pistons will be 2.8 , they are flat top.

                              And ARP main stud set.
I can not understund completely why the threads are not made 2 mm longer.

New Eagle 2.8 crankshaft has been nitriding (is that correct english?).
