I am pretty sure its just trying to relearn idle, but the thing is revving the hell out itself, is that normal idle relearn? I think it might be because I tapped the gas to get it going, going to try unplugging the battery to reset it, and see if it can find normal idle speed

I wouldn't see it revving past 2-3k rpms doing a relearn unless there is a vacuum leak. Normally from what I've seen idle relearns tend to stall out, not try to bounce off the limiter.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

Well without a tach its hard to say what its revving at, but I think its higher than that, apparently that pesky vac line had unplugged from behind the TB, really annoying, that's what was causing it to sputter and cough post removing that material from the 3400 tb to make it able to dump the idle air back into the airstream. So after plugging that vac line back in it started, but now revs like hell, also about how long should idle relearn take? I did disconnect the battery, cause my hitting the gas, and the vac line being unplugged might have taught it a bad habbit or something. Going to try starting it again soon. I wish for just once something in my life would go smoothly and not be way overcomplicated for what it is =/

no change, it won't idle that's what concerns me, its not revving from idle to 2-3k, its just sitting at 2-3k, like even with my foot planted on the brake, with it in gear, it wanted to move, pretty sure the breaks were at their limit, cause they would slip just a tiny bit every now and again, like the kind of slip when youre at a light and let off the brakes just enough to creep forward. Is it normal for it to stay off idle during idle relearn? I mean it just seems to me like its not gonna learn proper idle sitting in the 2-3k range all day...but if I have to swap those TBs out 1 more time I think I'm gonna lose it.

rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble. So I figured out that problem(wasn't closing all the way cause I had the spring stop at the wrong spot), and now its doing the opposite, idling just off stallout, whole car shakes, its running just fine, but idling way low. Also the SES light is on for some reason(stupid computer) and the IAC is making noise driving around.
If I adjust the throttle stop will that do anything or will the computer go out of its way to keep it idling at just above stallout....its got almost 0 vacuum, stopping fully on these stupid little suburb streets is difficult at best, on the upside its VERY lively...moment you even twitch that gas pedal its off, lol. Though thats not the best combination, shes not very well mannered, that's for sure.

I was gonna say, it sounded like something was holding the throttle plate open and keep the revs up. Either that or a major vacuum leak. Which TB are you using, the billet TCE one? I've noticed the IAC does make a sort of whistling noise on those. I think it's just the shape/location of the ports compared to stock. Mine does it too, especially at mid throttle going from around 1k rpm up to 3k I hear a definite whistle. I'm used to it by now.
Hard to say whats causing the low idle now though. Is this engine in your camaro? And what computer are you running it with? I would definitely say there is something wrong if you have 0 vacuum reading. You should only see that at full throttle.'97 Grand Prix GT 3800 (sold)

0 vacuum will kill your brakes too since they operate on vacuum assist. I would check for a big vacuum leak. You can use carb clean or some people use an UNLIT propane torch and move it around gasket surfaces and vacuum lines.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

Was no vacuum leak, I simply meant it had no vacuum cause it was idling so poorly, and I didn't actually measure, could just tell by the fact I had no brakes, and know that poor idle can affect vacuum, which in turn can effect brakes, car had an issue even before I got it, though I have no idea what, the engine is in a 96 corsica, all stock, couldn't get it to idle right on the 3400 TB and it shot off 4 different codes, lean and misfiring on one bank, MAP(or was it maf..) and tps, doesn't make sense, I wound up just going back to the stock TB, which sucks, its far less responsive and peppy now, but seems to be running like shit off idle now...sigh i hate this car already.

I've got it all sorted out now, just thought I'd let those know that tried to help me. One of the TBs had a bad tps, not sure which, cause I swapped them back and forth once or twice. So got a new one, also didn't know at the time that OBDII once it gets a code can run bad even if the code gets fixed, and that you have to actually manually reset with a scan tool. So either it wouldn't run right from the codes I tripped when a vac line pulled out or the TPS is bad. But I have it running correct now.
