  • A.R.I engines

has anyone ever heard about them. they have a 2.8 stroker motor that brings them to 3.4 and will fit any vehicle that came with a 660. i was wondering if anyone knows what block they use, what pistons, what heads will work, ect. i have it figured that if they used a 2.8 or 3.1 block, they would need to use .120 over pistons.

    here is the site http://www.engine-parts.com/GMV6/gm2834stkr.html

E-mail them to find out the stroke of thier biggest crank.
I really hope they are not selling people on boring out a 2.8L/3.1L because that is a big No No.

This has actually been discussed before. They use a stock 3.1 crank (3.31" stroke) and overbore the 2.8/3.1 block by .120". They claim it's a stroker, because technically if you have a 2.8, they do stroke it by putting in the stock 3.1 crank.

interesting, that must mean the cylender walls are paper thin.

guess ill steer clear of that direction of motor swap.

My first engine rebuild I got my parts through them. Threy gave me all the wrong equipment, and some thing were good something were bad. The crank they gave me was ground down way too much to be any use yet they gave it to me anyways, They also gave me the GEN1 timing set which is thicker than the GEN2 set, and it actually fit behind front cover, and then they gave me the Iron head pistons and for months I was trying to find out why the cranking compression was so high, I wanted to build for stock GEN2 compression and I was using the 2030. Would explain why my car didn't have all the hp I wanted because I was detonating like crazy using that cam and those pistons. Later on I used the 272 and got bunch of power and less detonation. At least it was torquey. I don't trust those people. In a way I'm happy I literally stumbled onto the the GEN1 pistons for higher compression and the thicker timing chain for GEN2. I'm also happy that th was my only my first engine build, and it lasted over a year. I'm not happy about when I confronted them with the issue and they never responded to my emails. I to converted a 2.8 to a 3.2.

ARI the basic build is 9.3-1 compression with hyperutic pistons, cast rods & crank. they offer 3 cams. I have the phase 3. Except for the first cam that was defective and I got no satisfaction on them and there knowledge on ECM & injectors it is not a bad build I spray it with a 150 shot of juice and run consitant 13.4-13.7 and have no problems with the motor Ive got over 200 runs on the motor.

Yea if they are only offering a 3.1L crank then that is a total bullshit kit. Stay VERY clear of it. If you want/need a 3.4L then you need a 3.4L/3400 block.

Wrong. My 2.8L block has a 3.1 crank and has been bored to accept 3.4 Camaro pistons. Has run excellent for the last 3 years and is still running strong.

To bad there isnt a stroker crank available thru GM. Then there would be no B.S. period. What other way can you gain cubes than to stroke it or swap in a larger 90 degree V6. Boring a block out isnt the best in my opinion. You need as much meat in the cylinder walls as possible. Anyone got any connections with anyone within GM and tell them to make one?

True is has been done, your not he first trust me. But as far safe overbore goes, you have passed it. Now a well casted block that is tested for cracks and uniform wall thickness can be used for a 3.4L application. It will last, but would not be eligable for another overbore thats for sure.
