What modifications are needed to run SBC rods in a 3400???

  • #2
The big end needs to be narrowed to the same width as the 3400 rods.

Does the crank need to be modified to accept the rods or viceversa? what about the pistons they will work with the rods and be within the correct tolerances

The crank is fine. You have to run different bearings, or machine the tangs in the rods for the 60V6 bearings. Pistons won't work unless you bush the pins. .906 vs .927 pin size. Diamonds makes pistons for me with either pin size, which is great as long as you want forged pistons as well. Without forged pistons, there isn't much of a reason to upgrade the rods.
