  • What is it going to run?

Ok so i have a 3.4 P/R motor outta a camaro and i'll list my parts thats its going to be put together with i'm wondering what its going to run like in Hp/tq ratings? Also in RPM range.

    Ok so its a 3.4 (.020) block
    new 3.4 TDC pistons
    (.040) thick head gasket
Dual Throttle body setup on a stock 3.4 P/R TB's
Dual Valve springs IDK what kind got them from a friend
    Iron 3.4 heads P&P
    Stock 3.4 P/R injectors
    Crane 272H cam
    Stock rods,Crank
I'll be running the 7730 ecm with DIS
later will add 75-100 shot of NOS

I know its not much to work with but i was just kinda wanting to get an idea.

Somewhere in the 200HP range. Its hard to get more specific than that.

you've got a cam that makes good top end power but a top end that doesn't. It's probably going to make decent torque to about 3K RPM, peak power probably around 5500 and i'm guessing 180-190 HP.

They are not terrible. For the engine size they are no worse than an iron Small Block Chevy heads and actually have more valve per cube. No they are not as good as aluminum heads. Thats obvious. But people are still building small blocks with Camel Hump Heads and Vortec heads so do whatever you want. I am running Iron heads on both my trucks for sheer simplicity and cost concerns. I could have easily jumped on some Gen III heads but 10 years ago no one had pioneered a rear wheel 3400 and there were no cheap cores around. When I did my Trooper time constraints and funds won out over maximum performance so I went with a combination I know worked and would go together will all my old parts. My Trooper runs very well and is faster than my Cousins 94 Trooper that has a 3.2L DOHC motor and my buddies 99 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0L I6. So I am happy. My S-10 ran high 15 second passes which is faster that pickups made today.

With 3500 heads, that cam and those pistons i'd say 260-270 @ the crank assuming you have some good headers and can tune it.

I'm thinking of a hybrid iron head 3.4L with stock short block and 3500 upper heads, etc., cam upgrade (Crane 272), headers, megasquirt, and 5 speed. I realize the cr is going to be high, that's ok, will run premium (weekend cruiser, not daily driver). What kind of power to you guys think I'd get?
