      I believe the turbo grand prix heads are the same as the 2.8 and regular 3.1.
      And no, you dont' have to change the ecm, though if you can get a custom program done, it helps.

        Thanks for all the info you have been great. I am going to work on this thing tonight and get it ready for it's first outing, hopefully by the end of July. All the reading on different GM sites has led me to believe that all of the 2.8/3.1L cams are the same lift/ duration, is this true to anyones knowledge.

          What I would do it get a 3400 motor but run a Gen II top end so it looks stock. Then you will get the benefit of a roller cam and the displacement of a 3400. Get Crane or Comp to make you a roller cam (you can use an aftermarket roller cam because you do not need a cam sync ring for MPFI) then put on a set of Crane or Comp full roller rockers (if rules will permit) with the beehive springs off the LS1 or the 3400 heads you are not using.

          Port the ports and deck the heads (or I guess your can use flat top pistons) because more flow and copression equals more power
