  • Those that have done the spring upgrade in lifters

Did it help make the engine any quietier? Mine right now sounds like I have a diesel in the car. I can hear a few lifters ticked and clanking away, especially around 2200rpm. Im running LS6 springs, and have the stock lifters. Seems like the noise has been getting worse/louder over the years

How much noise is normal? Ive got a small cam, street cam, and it seems like theres more noise than what should be there.. Besides for the ticking/clanking sound of the bad lifter(s)

I have a little sound, more then most hyd lifters but less then a solid would have. But like Superdave i am running a big cam (.590 lift) so i expected some noise. The little bit of noise mine makes stays the same at all rpms as far as i can tell.

Mines a small cam .480 lift. i mean yes there is noise, but it just seems excessive. I did get custom pushrods to go with the cam. And im pretty sure that I soaked the lifters. Its been 2-3 yrs since I built the motor so I cant remember.

They probably leaked down in 2-3 years time. I would let it idle for about 20 minutes and see if that helps. My 92 always has pretty bad lifter clatter when fired up for the first time of the season. Normally I'll let it warm up for about 20 minutes or so and then go hop in for a spirited drive. That normally quiets mine down.
