2.8l heads

I rebuilt a 1988 Fiero 2.8 using the 3.1 crank and the iron head pistons with a .030 over bore.Sealed power piston #H562CP and a Crane cam 2030.
My question is are there any aluminum heads that I can now bolt on with the Feiro intake
that will raise the compression higher and still able to use regular fuel?I think I would like to end up with about a 9.75 to 1 .Any suggestions I am slightly disappointed with the performance of it the way it is both performance and economy and I have to pull it out to do a trans repair(trans leaks its a 440/t4) and thought if I could improve it with a set of heads I would.And yes the ecm has been reprogramed for the mod its running real close to BLM 128 through the rpm range.

I would say welcome to the site, but you've been around for 3.5yrs! Well, thanks for posting! Anyway, on to your question...

Unfortunately, there are no aluminum heads that work with iron head intake manifolds. So if you want to keep the Fiero intake, you'll have to stick with the iron heads. If you go with a complete 3x00 top end, you will gain a lot. The CR will be quite high, but will still work with pump gas, although you'd need to get your ECM reprogrammed to that you can saftey run the higher CR.

All iron heads are exactly the same, so no. I'll try to throw all the numbers into the site's CR calc later today and give you the CR if using 3x00 heads with your current bottom end.

Ok, so if I remeber right, those pistons still have a slight dish to them, correct? I used the standard 3.1 iron head dish of 12cc. With using 3400 heads, and the alum HGs (thickness of 0.060), you end up with a CR of 10.88, quench of .077". If you go with the iron HGs (thickness of 0.040), you end up with a CR of 11.57, quench of .057".

So the chambers of both the 2.8 and 3.1 iron heads are the same?I was under the impression the 2.8 had a larger chamber.So from that info I should be at about 8.8 to 1 with the 12cc dished pistons correct?I think so I don,t get into a detonation problem I should leave it alone.I dont want to do alot of mods to use the Aluminum heads and I dont think over 9.5 with iron heads will stand up to reg no lead fuel.
