I would like to think that someday we can get away with using the VVT 35/900s as easily as a 3500. I have a feeling that with just a few simple circuits, we can run them with a standalone VVT controller...... someday.

The 3500 top end can potentially be used on every motor from 1980-2006. VVT pushrod will never touch that for an upgrade option. If you are giving me VVT function in a standalone, I am using the 3.6.

I was talking to a tech at haltech, and after he talked to his people and some others, he confirmed to me that they can run the 3900 vvt (100%) with their stand alone ecu. Mind it costs $1500 - $2500. They can't do drive by wire yet, so you have to swap TB. I would do it if I had the cash.

For the Impalas and Monte Carlos that came with the 3400, the swap is cheaper and easier. You get to keep your existing accessories. If I were to go with the 3800 I would have to swap alternator, ps pump, ac compressor, etc..

I'm building my 3500 over the summer and should have it in by this time next year.

Lookin to get 300bhp and break 13.9

Believe that would make the first n/a w body to break 13 in the quarter mile.

Getting a built transmission with HD diff and 3.69 gears.

Working with mike at Milzy. Full stage 2 package(cam, heads, uim, lim) making some tweaks to the ECM for 7k shifts and dyno tuning it.

This will be a full 3500 swap and not just a top swap. He talked me into the full swap.

I will be sure to keep you guys and girls up to date.

I'm gonna be working with him, for the experience and knowledge.

For running an engine, I trust an ECU. For running the throttle, I do not trust an ECU. What if for some strange reason the contacts in the pedal sensor get stuck closed in a WOT position and you don't want to go WOT? I like my throttle cable

I'm at about 350 HP N/A right now, assuming everything goes as planned I'll hit the 400 HP N/A mark by next summer with a few small changes. Lets see a 3800 do that.

And Dave what have you done to make 350? And 400?

G6 3.6 DOHC is FWD. There are FWD, RWD, and AWD setups for the 3.6.

a very good P&P job on the heads, custom ground cam that's a bit on the wild side, longtube headers, ITB's and lots of tuning. To hit 400 i'm planning on a few upgrades including a change in fuel, those plans aren't set in stone yet though.

There is a video of it on the dyno in the old car on Youtube, search for 3500Z... that was before the ITB's and some other upgrades.
