Frankly, the stocjk bottom end seems to be pretty durable and I haven't heard of many bent/broken rods or cranks on cars running reasonable boost. Youi may just be unlucky. Did you do any rod prep befoire using them - peening etc.?

yea i am unlucky. i had a mechanic machine shop mount the pistons on the rods and check em thats bout it. ive never had a rod problem im wondering if i had detonation on that cylinder. i was getting on it and my air fuel dropped off to lean and it ran shitty so i let of and it ran shitty sounded like some backl firing and stalled. i looked under the car and had coolant running of the oil pan and coolant in the oil. cylinder 6 had a smashed spark plug and when i turn the motor over by hand u can hear the rod smack around.

well that just sounds fucking lovely. well... up to a 3400 and run less boost and more HP, maybe lower the CR with RWD pistons

Detonation will kill the strongest bottom end. If you make the rods stronger the crank will break. Make that stronger and the pistons will go. Make that stronger and the cap will go and so on and so on. Better tuning will solve your problems.

ya im not sure if it detonated but im guessing thats what happened. never had the problem before and had the same tune for a long time.

well first motor i melted a piston cuz im dumb and put some methanol in the gas that one lasted a year was all stock on 9 psi. the second motor i didnt even get to really run it long i got bad parts. i had my rods honed and they were not right so rod bearings went out immediately and the metal went all thru the motor and tore it up. so now im on the third motor 2500 miles in had no problems other than a exhaust gasket blowin out cuz 2 nuts fell off somehow. so its been a different problem each time. first time for this problem.
