I'm working on a rather different project and need some help. I realize this is several steps backwards for many here, but I need to make the most horsepower and torque at or near 3000 rpm. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm working on a budget alternative to aircraft engines for an airboat. Is 160-180 HP possible at the lower rpm's??

Ben at wottech could spec out a cam particularly for that application, how ever running a carb intake with gen 1 heads will bring down the potential, if you went with fuel injection which wont be that hard to do, you could defiantly hit your target with in 500rpm.
Long tube headers and a stroker crank would make this a joke haha, is this a speed boat, work/fish, play or cruise?
I really gotta get on a plug and play harness for these motors

That much power at only 3000RPM is not easy with just a 3.4L. 180 to 200 LBS of torque is easy.
In order to get 160HP at only 3000RPM you need 280lbs of torque. To get that same power at 5000RPM you only need 160lbs of torque.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
