gen 3 top end question

for those of you that have done the gen 3 top end conversion i have a question
i plan on getting a 2000+ 3100 top end for my 3.1 but i need to know if it matters what kind of vehicle i get my parts from and if there are any differeces between the engines from vehicle to vehicle or if i can get parts from several vehicles and use them interchangebly
