it's a custom grind from comp. stock cps. and it's installed correctly in terms of good eyeing. lol.

well it idles fine. what im saying is when you first start the car. it idles high. like above 1k for a bit. if i go to shift out of park while its up there it usually stalls. but if i wait for it to idle down..and it does idle down, im usually fine. it idles around 600 like it should.2002 Chevy Malibu 3400sfi - Project Sleeper - Good night

well around 600. point being the idle is fine both in and out of gear. its just when shifting from park to a gear while its up above 1k usually results in stalling.2002 Chevy Malibu 3400sfi - Project Sleeper - Good night

im about to buy a new torque converter. first question..does everyone agree this is a good idea. 2nd question what should i get it for.
i have a 2002 malibu with the 4t40e and 3100. i ripped a 3400 out of a 2002 impala which should have a 4t45e. im putting the 3400 in the malibu and keeping the 4t40e. which torque converter should i use. the one for the 4t40 or the 4t45?
and idk if its even a 3400. it should be. the intake was stamped 3400. but on the flywheel side i believe it is..or the cam side..well either side. it has stamped in the steel 3.4 AND 3.1. this is on both blocks. its not like one says 3.1 and the other says 3.4. both my engines are stamped 3.1 and 3.4. so how do i know.2002 Chevy Malibu 3400sfi - Project Sleeper - Good night

What big letter is on the side of the block? Should be visibile below the TB on the back side (see below)
The C shown above is for the 3500. I'd have to search to be 100%, but pretty sure the 3400 has an A and the 3100 has a B.-Brad-

Call up a TC manufacturer, give them all your information, and they should be able to advise you on the best stall to get. You don't necessarily have to buy one from them, but it will give you a range you need to look for in a stock TC.-Brad-
