The 62mm TB is obviously going to perform better than a stock unit. Remember that you will need to port the upper manifold to match the larger TB though.

If you have the time, patience, and some simple tools, you can make the EGR adapter yourself.

i plan to port and polish everything before i put it in. will i need those new gaskets too then???

will that 62mm TB be better than a 3400 P&P?

what about the new heater hose?

Yes, you will need new gaskets.

A 62mm TB from FDP is going to be better than a P/P TB because it is a brand new unit. It is not a bored out stock unit like the others on the market. A P/P alone is really not going to make it flow more since you still have the same size butterfly in there.

Just use your stock heater hose.

The 3400 plenum just needs to be tapped out to allow for your stock threaded pipe to screw into the 3400 plenum.

You'll have to email them about a 3x00 TB since they only list TBs for the 2.8/3.1L.

ok, heres the most important question.... how much horsepower will a 3400 swap give to a 3100 engine stock? keep in mind the 3100 has 160 horsepower stock...

and what do you guys think a ported and polished 3400 swap might do for a 3100 engine??

If you swap the heads and all, you will probably be looking at 175-185HP. Maybe 195HP if everything gets a decent port/polish. I haven't dyno'd that though, so don't take my word as gospel.

Port and polish, valve job, bigger valves, headers, bigger injectors (with a new ECU), AFPR................ I guess it depends on how much money you are willing to spend.

Almost any decent machine shop in your area should be able to give you a valve job and bigger valves. I can't remember which injectors you would be able to use, but I'm almost positive that there are some out there. Aftermarket Mustang ones maybe? I don't remember......... AFPR is an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. You can use this when tuning to get the optimal ratio.

now a valve job is job is done to the heads???? am i correct with this? i'm buying heads from apoc and i'm going to have them resurfaced then i'm going to have them ported and polished. sounds good. so what do i take into the machine shop for a valve job.... and bigger valves, if my engine is torn apart how can i get it to a machine shop. do i just take a certain part and bring it to them?

Call around and find a machine shop who will do head work. I thought the APOC were already P&P'd and ready to go? Anyway, I would get some prices on a 3 angle valve job and then see about getting bigger valves put in. I thought that Brad had done some calculating to show how much bigger you could actually go with the valves. Do a search. I would, but I'm at work and don't have the time.
