  • A wee couple ecm questions...

A couple days ago I took a quick trip to the local JY in search of an ECM for the 3.4/3500 project, and I came back with a '7730, which seems like my best choice now that I look back on it. It came out of a beretta gt with a gen 2 3.1. I think its a 1991. Auto transmission.

I am going to buy a 3400 swap chip from wot-tech to get it started and tune from there.
^^^About that, where do I find the 4 digit BCC code on the chip?

    But I am wondering...

What sensors will I need to be hooked up to the computer?
And, is there a list of the pin outs hanging around somehwere?

From what I understand, this will work basically as a factory standalone unit, which is pretty cool for me because I can still run my factory gauges (and a syclone gauge cluster is coming!). Plus I can run an electric fan!

One question about that, will the 7730 work with the VSS signals from my 5 speed?

Any input is greatly appreciated, and thanks for helping a fellow 60º fan

See that round opening on the right side? Inside there, there will be 4 rows of numbers/letters. The top row should be the BCC.

As far as sensors and wiring diagrams... You will need whatever sensor the ECM requires. There are most likely several 7730 wiring diagrams hanging out in threads around here. Just do a search for it, and I'm sure you will find one.

I was going to post this in the ecm section, but I decided its better not to do so since this thread already exists.

I came across this info at the 3rd gen forum, but those pinouts are based on the v8 computer. The pinouts on my 7730 seem to be exactly the same, but there are a few wires on my ecm that are not listed on the sheets.

The first one I couldnt find labeling for is:

BA9 on the 24 pin connector. It is an orange wire that splits off in two directions.
^^^As per 3rd gen members, that wire is BA8 on some computers, which is serial data and goes to aldl ports "e" and "m". I just need confirmation on this.

On the black/blue 32 pin connector and is a white wire located at
        BD4 which is white
        BD15, green
BD13, grayish blue with orange stripe (PSPS) power steering pressure switch. My truck doesnt have one, so can this be left disconnected?
BC9 which is a light(er) green (AC REQ)

And on the green/gray 32 pin connector:
GF14, gray with red stripe (AC Pressure Sensor signal)
and a red wire at GF5 (EGR sol #3 control)

        Anyone gone through this before?
