  • Did anybody Dinoed there header?

    hi I just finished my 3500 Swap (comming from a a 3100 to a 3400 then a 3450 to finally a 3500)
    and man It hauls! from a dead stop its Quite impressive...But the top end is lacking.

    I got the stock 3100 exhaust manifolds and downpipe, so I know thats what is holding me in the high(er) RPM. so my Question is:

    how much Hp did you see from the Wot-tech header? Did anybody dinoed it?

    thanks for the awnsers

    mike.

    I will be dyno-ing them once this batch is done and we put them on a Grand AM (should be similar results as other vehicle platforms).

      Cool I know what they do and all but I just want to know the HP per $ on the headers. It Is a necessity with the 3500, as my 3100 Log are just Killing the engine in the Top end.

        I'd bet anywhere from 10-20 HP, depending on the tune. I dynoed with my 60* headers from here in July with temps at 95*F and a bad fuel pump at 195 HP with a 3400 tune with little to no spark advance. I'd say i'd be at 215 HP easy, 250 torque had I not had issues on a stock 3500 with a warm air intake.

          Could you email me a pic or scan of the dyno graph? john@60inclusive.com

          That's pretty impressive, what other engine mods do you have? If it's a stock 3500, then the headers definitly made a big difference...

          a good set of headers should net you about 10-15%hp gain over cast manifolds (a little less if the OEM's are tubular-cast).

            Yeah, I just got to find it. Last summer on a stock 3500, with 2.8 gen II manifolds, I dynoed at 200 WHP, 225 ft. lbs torque using the 3400 tune. This year the numbers were lower because of the temperature and the weak fuel pump. No engine mods at all besides the 3.5 L TB and warm air.

                Id guess a 3400 block with 3500 top end.

                  195whp on a 3400 with headders vs 200whp on a 3500 with the logs manifolds? that is insane!!!

                    I have the datalogs from that dyno session, the DA sucked. We had some lower than expected results from more than one car.

                      yeah, my engine is essentially the same as dave's with a smaller cam, i even have his old headers, and i made 240-something at the wheels that day i made 224whp with the same cam in a 3400 with logs and a stock tb. and i know that headers + 3500 + 65mm tb upgrades are worth more than a 20hp increase.

                      Cammed 3400 --> 224whp 210wtq
                      Cammed 3500 --> ???

                        I got track numbers back.

                        From last year (3400 tune, 3500 engine, log 2.8 manifolds - drag radials) I ran best of low 14.65-14.7 at around 95 MPH

                        Saturday, with a newer tune, WOT headers, and drag radials, I ran a 14.39 @ 97 MPH. Numbers for proof right there. 3 tenths of a second drop. Not bad while running 2.3 60 footers

                          i got 2.3xxx 60 footers too...but I got a 14.981 at 93.39MPH....i tought I had timing retrd but 3400-mod cleared that for me.

                              Last weekend I was rolling 1.98 60 footers but only getting 14.4's at 96... WTF... LOL I did notice I was short shifting 1-2 though... 6100 FTL... should be 6500 or so, MIN. My best n/a time was done with 6750 shift points.

                              We really think that track was f-ed up since Asylum who was running 13.6 constantly was only able to get a 13.9 there. Also my NOS time's were 3 tenths slower than my bests in Chicago this year.

                              And yeah 96 and 97 ecm's have that negative symbol in front of the spark retard pid and that is well... retarded if you ask me. LOL
