    I should know this but I'd thought I ask....

    How do you measure for header tube length to make them equal? Drop a weighted string down it?
    sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
    A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
    Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
    Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
    PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

    i measured out 32" on a piece of 1" rubber tubing and just flexed it through the primaries, worked pretty well.

      I use a metal coat hanger all the time to measure the lenght and to set up the bends before hand. Also handy to prebend and set in place before cutting or bending the pipe.

        Only accurate way is to measure the volume of each with liquid, otherwise you can come up with different measurements depending on where you put the pce of string, tape measure etc.

            I honestly think Dave's idea will get you pretty close to accurate. The larger the piece you put inside the tubes, the less margin of error you will have because it is more conforming to the size of the tubing. Using a piece of string could easily cause you to be a couple inches off just do to it taking the shortest path, whereas the larger tubing is going to have to bend around the curves even more.

              That's a GREAT idea, never even though about that! Using a pce of 1 1/8" radiator hose would work excellent! Man I was going to use the burette to see on this next batch of headers, but takes so long.
