Turbo vs N/A on a 3100

Ok for a streetable setup that provides nice power yet street reliability, which one would be better: Turbo or Naturally Aspirated.

Depends on the power output. If your looking for no more than 250 or so, go F/I

250 from a N/A 3100 would probably be a rough motor... IMO

Agreed, and i know from expierance.


I'd just boost it if you need it to be reliable, keep it turned down normally and crank it up when needed.

So 250hp is about the max or is 300 within the realm of possibility with great supporting mods?, cause I'm aiming for 300hp low boost around town and maybe no more then 20psi if I should decide to go to the track. Mainly a street driven boost application.

12 PSI is about 300 WHP with a 5 speed on a 3100/3400, to hit 20 PSI you are going to need forged pistons for sure.

I don't know what trans you are planning on using but there aren't many that will hold that kind of power reliably.

I sure woudl love to see a video of that the first time he tried to run it with 20 Psi... WTH.. lol,, Look up Energy dynamics, the old one,.. they made 550 wheel HP on a 1.8 honda with 10 pounds of boost.... i mean comeone,, giggles, youd make a nice smoke show, but crank, rods, pistons, head, the right cam specs.. we all like to dream, but my 2.4 neon makes 230 at the flywheel at 11 above Atmo....ahh the explosions, and will sit there and smoke the front tires till the Axles pop hehe
