  • Full Roller Pedestal Rockers for Gen III

    Board:

Would there be any interest in a pedestal roller rocker that is adjustable (on the rocker body over the pushrod) in say 1.5:1 or 1.6:1 made by a reputable manufacturer whose name you'd likely recognize? This would use the factory pedestal.

You might be wondering why would you want a pedestal rocker when you can just use the Gen II pushrod guides and Crane rockers? The Gen II pushrod guides are pretty whimpy, and there is a fair amount of side load on the guide. Higher valve spring pressures (450+lbs open) will bend the holy crap out of the guides and render the valvetrain a weak link. And nope, you can't stack the guides, doesn't work.

If you would be interested, how many sets would you want and how much would you reasonably be willing to pay? In what ratio?

The reason I ask, is I've been talking with a manufacturer of rockers, and when any talk of a custom set comes up, the tooling costs loom over the discussion. I have NOT spoken to them of this specific idea, however, if the volume is high enough, then the tooling costs get spread out and the project gets more doable.

    So I ask again, interested?

I think you'd have to start with a 1.6:1 ratio as that is the stock gen3 ratio, and offer a 1.7:1 for those wanting a bit more lift...

defeats the purpose of offering a 1.5:1 when there are no aftermarket cams right now to offset with larger lobe lifts when going to a lower rocker ratio over stock, which would result in less valve lift.

EDIT: or is this for gen2 heads your wanting pedestal mounts?

There are aftermarket cams, they just don't have the sync sensor disc... I have a bowtie block anyway.

I've got a plan for the SYNC signal. Been working on it. Perhaps I'll post some information on my site about it.

This is for Gen III, pedestal mount heads.

So, about how much would you be willing to pay for such a thing? The reason I ask is so I can pass along this info and make a determination about feasability.

          Thanks,
