  • Valve Covers?

I need taller valve covers for my 3.4. Any ideas on where to find some?

What 3.4L? What do you need to fit under it?

It's a 1995 Camaro 3.4 V-6 in a Stalker chassis. I installed a performance cam, which required taller springs to avoid binding. The springs hit the stock covers. I haven't found any aftermarket covers for this engine.

the installed height shouldn't have changed though...

Fiero covers might give a little more clearance but these are shiny: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-4488/

Ordered those shiny things, so I'll add a little bling. You're right, the height should stay the same since the valves are stock. Spring diameter must be larger. I'll compare them just for curiosity.

Fiero covers have less clearance than stamped covers. Edelbrock covers look like they have more clearance in the corners than the stock steel ones. Did you have to machine the spring pockets in the heads to fit the springs? Both the Crane and COMP springs fit the heads without machining and should accommodate all but the most aggressive of cams and both of the fit under stock or Fiero covers. Are you using roller rockers?

The rockers are hitting the covers, not the springs. Cam is .480 lift, spring pockets were machined, not sure which springs were used. Stock rockers.

Then unless you are using longer valves then the rockers will not hit an you have something wrong. I have aluminum roller rockers and they fit with room to spare under stock covers.

I didn't push the valve covers upwards when I tightened them, and they slid down and hit the rocker arms. Installed the bling covers correctly, and they don't hit. Duhhh. Guess I needed them anyway.
