To hell with the belt..... look at the UIM!

And what is that tumor on the front bank? The manifold heat shield?
      It\'s ugly, and turbocharged!
264 HP and 284 ft/lbs at the wheels(@9psi), power curve like none other!
And the transaxle to get it to the ground!

Here is a VERY bad cutaway view of it.

I told you it was bad....

Well the guy is in high detail, and to some of us that is a good thing.....

          That UIM is awful....

Whatever gets the job done looks good to me. Id rather change the timing belt on my 3.4 than change the belt on that sucker :P

I wanna see more details on the manifold! Why they'd go with that kind of design??

So, does this confirm any questions anyone had about Aaron??? Just joking!

I don't mind the intake so much. I hope they start putting them in some cars fairly quickly so that they start showing up in junkyards and ebay! :P

looks much like the old catera intake manifold.

by the looks of it is that a Camshaft Phaser on the front of the cover that sticks out?

                    looks like it to me.

This is what I have been told:

The upper intake maifold is an active manifold, switching between long and short runners to maximize power at any RPM.

Yes, that is a camshaft phaser.

The exhaust manifolds are so huge because GM saw fit to integrate a catalytic converter into the manifold. Quicker cat lightoff = better emissions.

Now the real question is how do you phase a single cam motor? Usually you change overlap as one way to increase higher rpm HP. I guess they could have some funky cam over cam setup so you rotate the outer shaft and inner shaft separately.

Usually they just use a servo to move the cam independantly of the gear.. either advancing or retarding cam timing.

What I want to know is, can you swap the dualstage intake (upper/lower) on an older motor, or do the heads come with? Either way.. I can see another hybrid swap coming on.

that lower looks somewhat similar,... well the small amount you can see under the near the valve covers looks similar..

yeah the camshaft is advanced and retarded depending to increase performance.

But unless somehow the intake and exhaust lobes are separated and can be moved independently, you can only advance/retard the cam timing for the whole cam.
