  • True duals on 3900 fiero?

I have a fiero with a 3900 and 4t65e. I was advised to go with a magnaflow crossflow muffler but made a last minute change and ordered corsa db red mufflers with 2.5'' inlet/outlet. Will true duals be fine on the 60degree? I could probably merge into a 3 inch and split off again into the mufflers but would rather not if it's not necessary. I don't expect power gains from true duals, I'm more interested in if it's going to hurt or sound like crap. Thanks for the help

it's tough to make a 3900 sound bad... or any other 3x00 for that matter.

i don't know how much room is in there, but if you can pull it off, why not?

At this point true duals would be the easiest. Trying to make an x-pipe with equal lenghts would be near impossible. I already removed the bottom of the trunk to fit the mufflers. What about catalytic converters? I'm thinking I'll need them to help quiet it down but am trying to talk myself out of it due to cost and packaging.

2.5 inch dual mufflers should make the exhaust tone low and bassy as well as reduce your exhaust velocity. You could pull off a crossover without a lot of difficulty if you ran the front bank over the bellhousing out the back and the rear bank over the bellhousing and around the front to the back and connected them above the bellhousing.

I thought the dual 2.5'' would be too big too but reading a couple calculators online it seems like they recommended 2.5'' for over 300hp. Plus premade collectors seem to be made in 3x1 5/8 into single 2.5''. so I figured it must be for a reason. Odly enough I bought the corsas because they seem higher pitched.

an X pipe would be ideal, i've ran true duals with an X, H and no balance pipe, the X did the best job of sound control on my cammed 3500. straight duals sounded ok revving up but under load they sounded terrible.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Thanks for all the advise.
