  • What is the best carb and intake for 3.4?

Ok. I have an 84 4x4 2.8 5-speed. I want to put a carbed 3.4 in it, but don't have the money yet. But, my carb on the 2.8 is getting ready to go T U, so I was thinking of getting a good carb and intake, and putting it on this motor for now, and then just switching it over to the 3.4 when I get it.

Is this sound thinking? What would be the pro's and con's of this, as opposed to rebuilding the 2.8 carb to only use for the summer?

If this seems like a good idea, then what would be the best intake and carb to look for? When I do the 3.4, I want it to be good strong motor. Not a race motor, but a good truck motor.

Thanks for letting me bounce my ideas around!

Get a Offehauser or Edelbrock intake and use a Weber carb.

I was just offered an Offy intake and 390cfm Holly 4brl and Crane cam for $300. I think I might go for it.

When buying a used 390, don't get caught. Buy it by all means, but dip it and clean it thoroughly. I got a stuck secondary float valve when I didn't do the full job and got a little fire.

By the way, if it is the unit I think it is, it was posted on the Fiero Forum and it is one sweet and clean looking setup. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
