Small flat chambers are better for power and handle more compression without detonation. Iron head open chambers suck compared to the compact heart chambers used on all Chevy OHV engines today.

3500 heads cannot work on a 3100 block due to the way the combustion chambers overlap the bore.
work fine on a 3400 though, but at that point, it's probably just easier/more fuitful to use a full 3500...Comment
