At school I've been tearing apart a 3.4L out of a 95 Camaro and on the crank it says 3.1L. Is this normal?

Yea thats the way they are. I have never seen a crank that says 3.4. I am willing to bet every crank up to the 3500 says 3.1L except for the 2.8L of course.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
